Annie Jackson

Annie Lee Jackson, 92, of 2566 North County Road 300E, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at King's Daughters' Hospital.
She was born March 9, 1911, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Vergil C. and Carrie Agnes Ryker Melton. She was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught at several area schools and retiring from Rykers' Ridge Elementary School. She was a member of the Ryker's Ridge Baptist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Indiana State Teachers Association. She had also worked with the Ohio Valley Opportunities Head Start program. She served as music director for several churches in the New Orleans area in her early years, and had played the organ and piano for many churches.
Surviving are two sons, David Lee Green of Davidson, N.C., and Arthur J. Jackson of Bloomington; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Arthur Jackson, in 1972.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Ryker's Ridge Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Vail-Holt Funeral Home Madison Chapel and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Ryker's Ridge Baptist Church or to Gideons International.
