Biography

Alexander Melville is noted in Ferguson's work.[1] He is stated to have been from the Fife Melville's.

He received his commission as Captain in the Scots Brigade on 3 Feb 1589, vice Captain Hay, and he may have been there prior.

He was killed at Groningen, Netherlands, on 15 Jul 1594.

He had married Maria Rigg who appears as his widow in the Pension List for the United Netherlands in 1597. His descendants are suggested to still survive in the Netherlands.
