Biography

Marie Madeleine Menard was born July 2, 1762 at Contrecoeur. She was the third child and second daughter of Pierre Jean Menard and Genevieve Cherby. Her parents would have eight children, three boys, four girls and one unknown child who died at birth.

Marie Madeleine Menard married Jean Ambroise Leblanc dit Jolicoeur on Oct. 17, 1785 at Contrecoeur. He was the eighth child and sixth and last son of Jean Baptiste Leblanc and Marie-Josephte Boissonneau. This family 11 children; six boys and three girls, but sadly two children died as toddlers.

Marie Madeleine Menard married Jean Ambroise Leblanc on Oct. 17, 1785 at Contrecoeur. She was the third child and second daughter of Pierre Jean Menard and Genevieve Cherby. Her parents would have eight children, three boys, four girls and one unknown child who died at birth. This appears to have been a double wedding with her brother, Barthelemy marrying Marie Amable Labossiere on the same day.

Jean Ambroise Leblanc married Marie Madeleine Menard and Marie Madeleine Menard had 16 children, seven boys and nine girls, but eight died young or as infants.

Marie Madeleine passed away on April 3, 1816 at Contrecoeur and she was buried there a day later. Jean Ambroise Leblanc died May 17, 1821, also at Contrecoeur and was buried there two days later.
