Pierre Menard has French origins.

Pierre Barthélemy Menard, dit l'Hiver, was born in New Orleans, La Louisiane, to Louis Menard and Catherine Marchand about 1748. His date of birth is an estimate based on his mother's age and that of his oldest known sibling.

As shown in their son's marriage record, he married Christine Dore,[1] probably in Louisiana c.1779.

Their known children were:

  1. Pierre Gaspard Menard, fils (c.1780)
  2. Andre Menard (c.1782)
  3. Magdeleine Menard (c.1787 )
  4. Marie Menard (1794)
  5. Francoise Menard (1797)
  6. Julienne Menard (1802)

"Pierre MENARD, dit L'Hyver, of St. Charles parish on the River, died December 22, 1807 suddenly at home at L'Ile at age 70[sic] years; buried December 23, 1807."[2]
