At the time of the marriage Michilimackinac was part of Quebec, not Michigan or the United States.

The Ottawas had learned of the death of their young chief at the détroit and were seeking revenge on all the French. Father Marest and Maurice Ménard, at their own risk and with a goodly number of gifts (paid for out of their own pockets), succeeded in placating them. A delegation of 160 Ottawa's set out for Fort Pontchartrain in order to find out what was happening there. They returned, somewhat reassured, on August 23. During this time, the Ottawas who remained at Michilimackinac plotted a diversionary attack on the Miamis of the Saint-Joseph River. There again, Marest and Ménard exhorted their chiefs not to

Madame Montour and the Fur Trade (1667–1752)

https://books.google.com/books?isbn=145687375X Simone Vincens - 2011 - ?History Emigration of the Couc family itself from the St. Lawrence Valley to the western Great Lakes region began with the marriage of the youngest daughter, Madeleine, to Maurice Ménard, whose father, one of the original settlers of Trois-Rivière and a longtime friend of Pierre Couc, now lived with his family at nearby Boucherville.

The Couc family struggled along, doing much better since Pierre had rented out his land in Trois-Rivières. In June 1664, a third Couc daughter was baptized: Marguerite, born the first of the month, had Jean Péré as godfather and Jeanne Crevier as godmother. Meanwhile, at the home of their friends the Ménards in Trois-Rivières, the birth of a son, Maurice, on June 7, was celebrated. The month had been fecund:

Menard-610 and Menard-9 appear to represent the same person because: The profile of Jacques Menard, b 1629, m. Catherine Fortier (not Forestier) is a mess with duplicates and misinformation. Part of that is my error (and Wikitree's) because when I found documentation for Jacques Menard I was unable to find his presence on Wikitree and Wikitree didn't recognize the match; maybe because the last name and birthday of the previously created Jacques Menard didn't match the information in the documentation from Tanguay. Subsequently I created Menard-609 for Jean Baptiste and Menard-610 for Maurice before I found the other profile for Jacques who appears to be married to two different Catherine Forestiers.

Dit Lafontaine-13 and Menard-9 appear to represent the same person because: same name, DOB & locale, same parents, siblings, spouse, child
