OBITUARY: Funeral services for Maria Isabel Mendoza, 81, of Giddings, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Giddings with Father Miguel Duarte officiating. Burial will follow in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 5:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. lead by Carlos Chavez at the funeral home.

Maria Isabel Mendoza was born on November 30, 1938 in Las Trojas, S.L.P, Mexico to Pedro Mendoza and Leonor Zamora. She married Esteban Regalado in Villa Guadalupe, S.L.P, Mexico in 1955. She enjoyed cooking and sewing. Mariachi music was her favorite music to listen to. Maria loved taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren, and traveling to Monterey to visit her extended family.

Maria passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at her home in Giddings.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four children, Blas Regalado, Martin Regalado, Silvester Regalado, and Nacha Regalado, and four siblings.

Maria is survived by her seven children, Esteban Jr. & Oralia Regalado of Brenham, Alder Regalado of Giddings, Leonor & Encarnacion Villanueva of Lincoln, Isidra & Natividad Marroquin of Giddings, Rosy & Lazaro Salazar of Giddings, Cristina & Tereso Coronado of Giddings, and Suzana Garcia of Mexico; 22 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; three siblings, Modesto & Eva Zamora, Juan & Amparo Mendoza, and Luisa & Luis Mendoza all of Mexico, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Serving as pallbearers will be Esteban Regalado, Alder Regalado, Alder Villanueva, Luis Villanueva, Antonio Salazar, and Cristian Salazar.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley or to the charity of one’s choice.
