Biography

Louis F. Menge, born 13 Oct 1857 in Elk Township, Clayton County, Iowa, was the son of Charles Menge and Mary Knoeppel.[1][2]

Louis married Mary A Stadelmeier (1864–1932) on 9 or 13 Oct 1884 in Colesburg, Clayton County, Iowa.[2][3] They had children:[4]

  1. Martha Mathilda, b. 30 Aug 1885,[5] m. Peet;
  2. Charles W., b. 1888;
  3. Alice May, b. 28 Dec 1893,[6] m. Halfhill.

Louis died at age 65 years, 5 months, 14 days, on 27 Mar 1923 in Honey Creek Township, Delaware County, Iowa.[1] He is buried at Edgewood Cemetery in Edgewood, Delaware County, Iowa.[4]

H.J. Bixby was appointed administrator of Louis' estate in Delaware County, Iowa, on 18 May 1923. The estate's final report was filed 23 Aug 1924 with a hearing on 27 Oct 1924. Louis' surviving spouse, Mary Menge, was to receive the residue of the estate.[7]
