Research Note

Provided by Loretta Edmonston - Christina Menzies who married Alexander Lawson had one child Agnes. She married Mr. Baker who worked with her father at Sunshine Harvesters owned by the McKay Brothers. (All memorabilia sent to the National Museum Canberra.) He fought overseas in WW1 and was bodyguard to the Prince of Wales on his trip to Australia in 1920. Alexander travelled overseas with his friends McKays on business trips and also designed a harvester named after him. Agnes’ husband was much older than Agnes but, being a spoiled only child, he was a friend of her fathers and doted on her. They had no children and built an architect-designed house at Lawrence Road, Point Lonsdale, Victoria, Australia. She moved in her 80’s to Ballarat to be close to her cousin Rose Edmonston.
