Birth

William Henry Menzies was born on 4 Oct 1828 at Partick, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.[1] He was the son of John Menzies and Agnes Jamieson.

Arrival in Canada

Dr. A.M. Menzies tells us that William was aged 15 when he arrived in Canada with his father in 1843. They had come to Canada ahead of his mother and sister to ensure they had a dwelling for them to arrive to. The family settled on a farm about 3 miles from the village of Ailsa Craig, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada.

William Menzies married Caroline Halbert sometime in 1853 at Ailsa Craig, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada.[2] They had nine children during their marriage;
