Mercer-Thomas1.1a married Mary, and died in Chester County, Westtown,
Pennsylvania in 1716. His will was written on May 17, 1715, and
probated on September 13, 1716.
Thomas Mercer of Aynho was fined

He was excommunicated from the Church of England, and
released by letter in 1685.
In 1680, Thomas made a written agreement

that all of Richard's earthly belongings were given to Thomas if he
was to care for Richard, and his then wife Ann for life (Thomas
brought the agreement to America, and Ann was buried in Adderbury,
England on December 12, 1694). Thomas was Ann’s stepson. His name is
found in English records in conjunction with John Borton. On March
12, 1699/1700, he purchased 231 acres in Thornbury Township,
immediatly east of Westtown Station, and soon after acquired 500
acres in East Marlborough Township. He left his son Thomas, his 238
acre home plantation in Thornbury Township (he could take possession
when Mary died), 200 acres in East Marlborough Township to his
grandson, Daniel Mercer, and the remainder of his East Marlborough
Township holdings to his son Joseph. Mary died in Westtown in 1723.

Agree with Cynthia's comment below. The Notes section above needs to be backed up by primary docs which would probably smooth things for a merge. The notes above give Richard as the father rather than Edward. Richard is the father (undocumented) on the unmerged match profile.
These two profiles have more in common than not - same birth date and place, same death date and place. Wife's name is similar and the date and place of marriage are the same.
Parents are an issue. This can be dealt with in an "uncertain parents" section in the biography
Probably best to consider merging these profiles, if there is good reason to think they represent the same person. Managers have the most knowledge about the families.
