Biography

Unknown Merchant was born about 1794 the daughter of John Merchant and Nancy Mills. According to the 1820 census Unknown Merchant had four brothers and four sisters. Before the 1820 census was taken she married Richard Odom and they are enumerated in Pike County, Mississippi where they are living in the next dwelling to her parents. ^[1] Unknown Merchant appears by age to be listed on the 1840 census in the household of her husband, Richard Odom and their children.^[2]

At some point after the 1840 census, Unknown Merchant died. By the 1850 census, Richard has married Elizabeth Cook widow of Joseph Purvis.
