Hi Rachel,

Thanks for all your work on WikiTree. I noticed that you recently created a profile for a pre-1700 ancestor.

There have been some updates to the Pre-1700 Profile help page and a minor update to the Pre-1700 Quiz since you took it in May 2016. Please review both and let me know if you have any questions or concerns. You will notice that the wording has been modified to more fully explain the sourcing needed for pre-1700 profiles.

Please don't add any more pre-1700 profiles with just "Ancestry.com" and "NosOrigines.com" as sources.

Thanks,

Debi

Hi Rachel,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi Rachel! I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! This certification requires participation in a project related to the profiles you wish to edit. Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Also, check out our Volunteer Hub to see our projects that really need new members!

Let me know! I can help you figure out if there's a project and introduce you to the project leaders. Welcome aboard!

You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering. Make sure to add more TAGS to follow as you grow the family tree.

Wow!!! You're the 826 Mercier profile on Wikitree! I bet your 'cousins' on Wikitree will benefit greatly once you add your insightful collaboration and sourced research.

Have fun and make sure to join in the Question of the Week: What's your most embarrassing genealogical mistake? and read how we've all made silly mistakes along the way!

Hi Rachel -

I just wanted to give you a few suggestions to get the most out of your genealogical TAGS :-)

It's best to enter a value that is going to be recognized across the website. So, if you put in the TAG a single surname like SMITH or JONES then when you click on it, you'll find some helpful information as well as other genealogists who are also researching that surname. You can also enter locations like ONTARIO or MAINE and add info like childhood home, etc.

When you're following a tag, you're alerted to any new activity through your Daily Feed email. Following a tag doesn't commit you to actively participate in a project or to helping others in any specific way. However, people may reach out to you to collaborate with them when you share the same tags!

Hello Rachel -

Welcome to Wikitree! I'm so glad you found us!

Wikitree is one BIG world-wide family tree that is freely accessible to everyone. Our goal is to have one profile per person which means we all work together as a BIG friendly and polite collaborative team!

If you are interested in sharing your research and want to collaborate to add your family, please fill out the TAGS on your profile page and click SAVE TAG(s) AND VOLUNTEER.

Your Tags can include names like SMITH (a surname) or CANADA (a location) and a comment explaining why this subject interests you.

  • Once you choose to Volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you'll be on your way!

Welcome to the Family!
