Biography

Sir William Meredith Sr. was a Knight.

Sir William of Stainsley, Denbighshire, was also Treasurer and Paymaster of the Army. He was member of Parliament for Wootton Bassett in 1593.[1]

His will was dated 6 July 1603 and probated 8 February 1604/5.[2] In his will he left bequests to his wife and to his daughters Anne and Jane on their marriages, with the rest of his estate and goods going to his son William, who he also named as executor, despite his being new-born at the time the will was written.
