Martha Merrick was born in 1727 in South Carolina, the child of Thomas and Sarah. She married William Martindale 7 in 1750 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She died in 1789 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania at the age of 62.

Martha Merrick was not born in South Carolina. She and her husband William Sr. have all of their children born in Bucks, PA, from about 1748 when their oldest son John is born to 1760 when their youngest daughter Martha Martindale Black was born. They had moved their young family to South Carolina, and were in Union county, SC, by 1784 according to land records.
