Ann was born on 22nd February 1799 in Clanfield, Oxfordshire. She was the daughter of Thomas Merrick and his wife Susanna (nee Mills). Her baptism took place at St Stephen's, Clanfield on 27th February 1799.[1] Both her birth and baptism dates were recorded on the register.
Edward Coombes and Ann Merrick were married after banns at St Giles', Standlake, Oxfordshire on 21st July 1822.[2] They were both of the parish. Edward signed his own name on the register (and spelt his surname as Coombs) whilst Ann could only make her mark with a cross. The witnesses to the marriage were John Coombs, John Daniel and Thomas Stone.
