Charles Aubrey Merrick was born about 21 Jul 1918 in Wood-Lynne, Camden, New Jersey, United States, son of Charles Aubrey Merrick (1898–1977) and Ethel Estel Horner (1900–1978).[1]
After he was born, he and his mother lived with her parents in New Jersey. His grandfather was a brickmason. Both grandparents were born in New Jersey.[2]
When he registered for the World War II military draft, he described himself as a white male who was 6" with a fair complexion. He had brown hair and blue eyes. He was 22 years old and still studying at school. He earned degrees from Newark College of Engineering and Fairleigh Dickinson University.[3] On 16 Feb 1943, he was drafted into the military to serve in World War II. When he left the military in Feb 1946, he was a corporal.[4]
After the war he married and started raising a family in New Jersey. His first work was as an inspector at an electrical products company.[5] The would go on to have two more children.
Later in life he worked as an electrical and chemical engineer. In the 1980s, he retired and moved to Florida. There he met and married Rita Marie Dolan on 18 Apr 1998 in Pasco, Florida.[6]
Bob passed away on 22 Jun 2004 in Spring Hill, Leon, Florida from colon cancer. Charles A was buried in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Sumter County, Florida.[7]
