Joanna Merrill was baptised 5 April 1761, married 1 August 1784 to Jonas Safford, lived Poultney, VT and Gallipolis, Ohio."

Joanna was the tenth child of Joseph Merrill b. 28 March 1707 Hartford, CT d 13 Oct 1788, his first wife at 1734 was Mary also born a Merrill who died at Hartford CT, date not given. At 31 March 1741/2 Joseph married 2ndly to Abigail Stone of Guilford CT who died 2 May 1768 in New Hartford. Joseph married 3rd Feb 1769 to Martha Allen, widow of David Chapins, she died 8 Feb 1788 in New Hartford, CT. Joseph (father Abraham 1670-, grandfather John 1635-, great-grandfather Nathaniel 1601) is 4th generation in this Merrill Memorial Book. ^[1]
