Biography

Nathaniel Merrill immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Nathaniel was baptized on 25 May 1634 at Lawford, Essex, England, the son of Nathaniel & Susannah (Wolterman) Merrill.

Nathaniel is listed as one of those who took the oath of allegiance at Newbury on 25 Feb. 1668 along with his brothers Abel and Daniel.[1]

Marriage: Joanna Kinney (entry is clearly Kinney!) to Nathaniel Merrill 16 Oct 1661 at Newburyport[2]The children of Nathaniel & Joanna were John, Nathaniel, Peter, Joanna, Hannah & Mary.

On 19 Apr. 1678 Nathaniel Merrill of Nubery purchased an acre of meadow in Haverhill from Daniel Lad for "£3 & a flitch of Bacon." He also purchased 50 acres from Thomas Duston in Haverhill on 15 Mar. 1677/8 which was the property appraised in 1682 for £120.[3]

He is buried at Newbury Neck Cemetery, Newbury, Essex, MA, his will was probated January 1682.
