Emma Jane Merritt was born on 5 May 1875 in Comanche County, Texas, United States. She was the daughter of David Greenberry Merritt and Virginia Avarilla Tate. Emma Jane married Lee Andrew Drake on 24 March 1895 in Eastland, Eastland County, Texas, and together they raised a large family. She passed away on 26 Oct 1957 in Midland, Midland County, Texas.
