Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative (NSW: 1890 - 1954), Thursday 27 May 1926. ^[1] Nonagenarian's Grit. DISDAINS ANESTHETIC Mr. James Merrett, who is 94 years of age, was thrown from a dray whilst returning from the sale held at Mr. Hines' property on Saturday last, and one of the wheels of the dray passed across his head, with the result that he sustained severe injuries. He was attended by Dr. Tunley, and 14 stitches were inserted in his ear. Mr. Merrett was quite conscious when he went through the ordeal, and did not betray any concern. He possesses a wonderful constitution, despite his ripe old age. It is to be hoped that our worthy old friend will have an early and complete recovery. - "Gulgong Advertiser."
