MR. CHARLES MERRY
There passed away on the second of the present month, after a few days' illness, Mr. "Charlie" Merry (Sydney). Deceased was exceedingly well known and much esteemed in Toowoomba. He spent several years here, following the occupation of a house decorator. It was in cricket and in football circles that deceased was best known, for several seasons he played cricket with the Harlaxton senior club, and was known as a vigorous and dashing batsman, a tricky slow bowler and a capital field. He was also a capable Rugby football referee, his rulings always being characterised by impartiality. He possessed a sunnny nature that endeared him to all with whom he came in contact. Mr. Merry was only 44 years of age at the time of his passing, and to his sorrowing widow and daughter the sympathy of all who knew him will be extended.[6]
