"Surveyed for John Merryman, Junr. May 4, 1663, land on Chicahominy, from Henry Soans, 300 acres, granted to my father John Merryman."
1664 – May 24 - To all &c. Whereas &c. Now Know yee that I the said Sir Wm. Berkeley Knight Governor &c. give & grant unto John Merryman a tract of Land lying and being in James Citty County on the East side Chikahomany River bounded vizt North on Warra... Swamp, North west by west on Taylors neck South East on Michaell Goodale, & the Demenuon? line, and South East on Tho. Tasins? Land including Three hundred acres, 150 acres thereof purchased of Henry Soane by Jno. Merryman father to the said Jno. Merryman as by bill of sale appears dated the 5th? of December 1656 150 acres the residue due by transportacon of Three persons &c. To have & to hold &c. To bee held &c. Yeilding and paying &c. 31 June 1664 patent to Mich. Goodall for 300 acres in James City County on the Chickahomiany River states the land was bounded on the "North and North East on the relict of John Merrimans Land VLO Patents 5: 39 -From Cavaliers and Pioneers "MICH. GOODALL, 300 acs. James City Co., 30 June 1664, p. 365, (395). E. side of Chickhomeny Riv., N.W. on Taylors Neck, N. & N.E. on land of the relict of John Merriman, & the division line S.E. on Phillip Charles land. 150 acs. purchased by sd. Goodall of Henry Soanes, Gent & 150 acs. for trans. of 3 pers: Math. Munck, Jane Newdigate, Tho. Webber."
note: Chickahominy land was in James City very near York County (in the 1640s) but now it is New Kent????
