Mrs. Hazel Hume, Wife of County Road Engineer, Dies. Mrs. Hazel Hume, wife of Harry H. Hume, county road engineer, passed away last evening at about 6 o’clock at the Enloe hospital after an illness of short duration. Mrs. Hume, who was 31 years of age, was formerly Miss Hazel Merryman and has known Chico as her home practically all her life, being known for her modest and retiring disposition. One February 2, 1917 she married Hume.

Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn: her infant son, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Merryman of Chico, and three sisters, Mrs. Frank C. Birch, residing in Endinburgh, Scotland, Mrs. Sydney Beveridge, of Marshfield, Oregon, and Miss Lillian Merryman of this city, as well as a host of friends. Mrs. Beveridge is now in Chico. The funeral will be private.
