The John Merryman from Lancaster who first purchased land there in 1649 and who married Audrey (her last name has not been proven) and whose children moved to Maryland after his death, is not the same branch or person as John Merryman from Charles City and Goochland who arrived in the mid 1630s. Also, there is also no evidence of a 1625 birth in Virginia for any Merryman.
