Mary Mertens was born August 5, 1862 in Schliprüthen, Meschede, Westphalia, Prussia, Germany.[1][2] She immigraged to America with her sister, Gertrude and family, arriving in New York October 11, 1880 locating to Scranton, Pennsylvania. She married William Henry Eiden sometime before 1884 and widowed by 1900.[3] She was the daughter of Frank Mertens and Maria Gast. [4]She died February 11, 1914 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, United States .[5][6]
