David Merwin, son of Miles and Mary, was born 10 Feb 1763 in Durham, Connecticut.^{[1] [2]}

he married 1st, 11 Feb 1789 at Durham, Greene, New York, United States to Anne R. Bidwell, born 10 June 1770, died 1 July 1843, daughter of Benjamin Bidwell (1744–1831) AND Anna (Lane) Bidwell (1751–1777);

he married 2nd, Eliza Kirtland, daughter of Daniel Kirtland and Hulda Stephens.

According to Article Number Twenty-Three A - Field, Pratt, Johnson and Kirtland Families by Joshua Borthwick originally published on 5/21/1881, in the Catskill "Examiner", Eliza Kirtland, the wife of David Merwin Jr. went to Ohio in 1816 when the Merwin family removed there. "They went in wagons and were six weeks on the road."
