Biography

Daniel Messenger m. Lydia (?Royce CH), their daughter Mary was bapt. Jan. 5, 171-8; m. Jonathan Brace of Harwinton. (p. 401)

John Brace m. Feb. 22, 1705-6, Mary Webster, who was b. Sept. 29, 1688, dau. of Jonathan Webster and Dorcas Hopkins. Their son Jonathan, bapt. Nov. 30, 1707; m. Mary Messenger 1729-30. (p. 84)[1]

Jonathan Brace, b. 1708, son of John and grandson of Stephen Sen., removed to and became one of the original settlers and proprietors of the town of Harwinton as early as 1740; he m. Miss Mary Messenger of Hartford and had ten children, five sons and five daughters. He died when nearly 80 years of age. His sons, Elizer, Jonathan Jr. b. Nov. 12, 1754, James and Nathaniel survived their father. (p. 308)[2]

Jonathan Brace, bapt. Second Church Hartford, Nov. 30, 1707; died about 1788 in Harwinton, Conn.; married Nov. 9, 1738, Mary Messenger who became the mother of his children. (p. 73) (see also Hinman's Connecticut Settlers:p. 308.)[3]

The first man that settled in Harwinton was Daniel Messinger, from Hartford, in the month of January 1730, his 4th daughter Mary married Jonathan Brace and settled in Harwinton. (p. 106)[4]
