His marriage to Louisa Ord Holladay was registered in the Kensington district of London in the 3rd quarter of 1893.[4]

1911 census: St George, Hanover Square district of Westminster, London, age 45, solicitor, born Reading. Wife Louisa Ord Messer, 47, born USA (married 17 years). Visitor Ruth Ord Brooke, married sister-in-law, born USA. 4 servants.[6]
The 1939 UK Register lists him as a retired solicitor at Eastbourne, Sussex, with his date of birth given as 4 September 1865.[7]
