Obituary

Roslyn Messer Hunter, 80, of Asheville, N.C. passed away Wednesday, September 16 at home with family at her side.

Roslyn was born February 16, 1935 in White Oak, N.C. she is the daughter of the late Retha Jane Sutton and Brownlowe Graham Messer of Waynesville, N.C.

Roslyn graduated from the former Blanton's Business College in 1954 in Asheville. She devoted her career to Ecusta Corporation, working in the customer service department, for 32 years and truly loved going to work everyday until she retired in 1997.

As a long time active member of Calvary Baptist Church of West Asheville, Roslyn spent many years giving charitably, participating in the church community and volunteering on the church's steering committee. She also looked forward to election days as an enthusiastic volunteer at the West Asheville polls throughout her retired years.

Roslyn is survived by her husband of 61 years, Bobby Hunter, her son, Alan (Becky) Hunter, her daughter in-law, Geordi Hunter and her four grandchildren, Nicole (Tom) Hart, Jonathan (Karen) Hunter, Amanda Hunter and Garrett Hunter, brother Gene (Marsha) Messer and sister Janice Bradley.

She was preceded in death by her sons Keith Wilson Hunter and Jeffery Lane Hunter.

Roslyn was loved dearly by her husband, was a devoted mother and a Nonnie who never missed a game or recital of her grandchildren's.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Care Partners Hospice.
