Francis was born in 1855. [1]

He was Baptised the same year and day [2]

He is the son of George Messiter and Mary Williams.

The family was living in Arglye Street, at the time and the father was a waterman.

Francis got a contract for work in two different Post Offices, Timaru first, then Rakaia

Unfortunately he lost his Rakaia job for hiding and not delivering mail. His landlady reported finding unopened mail in his room intended for delivery to people in the area, after Francis moved away.

Francis moved onto new South Wales in Australia.
