George Metcalf was born in Yorkshire, England.
George was born about 1781 in Alverthorpe, Yorkshire, England.

In 1805 he married Charlotte Totty in Wakefield, Yorkshire.[1] Their children were:

In 1841 the family lived in Alverthorpe, where George was a clothier;[7] by 1851 he worked as a woollen cloth weaver.[8]

Charlotte died in 1859 at the age of 76.[9] George lived alone at Workhouse Fold in Alverthorpe in 1861 and worked as a cloth manufacturer.[10]
