George Metcalfe or Medcalf , Esq. of Thornborough Hall in Romanby, Yorkshire,^[1] (b. c. 1624/5 - bur. 20 Jan 1693/4 Northallerton, Yorkshire), certified his pedigree at Stokesley on 08 September 1666 at the age of 42. The chart was published in the Vis. of York., (Dugdale, 1666).^[2]

George was the eldest son of:

• Richard Metcalfe (d. abt. 1640)
• and Anne, dau. of John Palleser or Palliser of New Wiske, Yorkshire.

His mother remarried to the three-time widower, Marmaduke Franke of Knighton, Yorkshire (b. c. 1596).^[3]
