Biography

Jacob Metz's birth date is a very rough estimate based solely on his son's marriage record which is the only known documentation of Jacob's existence. He likely lived somewhere within the bishopric of Speyer given that his son's marriage appears in the church records of Landau which was within that bishopric. He could have lived in the village of Hayna as Landau was the nearest substantial sized town to both Hayna and Herxheim at the time Jacob lived. There was a local church in Herxheim at the time, but it may not have had separate records at that point.
