Christian was born c.1721. He married Mary Erisman, the daughter of a neighbouring farmer, and in his own lifetime accumulated a substantial number of properties. Some of these were sold to his sons before his death, the deeds including "a complex plan of water rights" to ensure that all homes and farms were adequately irrigated, and others were divided amongst his children after his death. His will is in poor condition and can not be fully transcribed, but names his sons (Jacob, John, and Christian) and five daughters (Barbara, Maria, Magdalena, Elizabeth and Anna). [1]
Research Notes
In 1796, the daughters of Christian Mayer, late of Earl Twp, signed a deed acknowledging that they had received their share of Christian's estate.[2] They are named as :
Barbara, m. Christian Mayer
Anna, m. Jacob Lashe
Magdalena, m. Samuel Greebill
Elizabeth, m. John Sheffer
Import notes from Sandy Minder advise that death date has been recorded variously as 4 Nov 1793 Manheim, Lancaster, PA and 20 Nov 1794 Earl, Lancaster, PA.
Given the challenging state of documentation from earlier generations, the Baschi Meyer Project is looking for male-line Meyer descendants willing to participate in Y-DNA testing to help figure out who is descended from whom.
A Y-DNA test from a descendant of one of Christian's sons will help determine his connection to other descendants.
