Biography

It appears that Apollonia Meyer was born around 1714 (sponsored a baptism in 1731), and lived in Oberhochstadt, Rhineland-Pfalz, Germany before coming to America (with her husband Adam Deshler in 1741) followed by the Meyer, Wolf and Bortner families of Oberhochstadt in 1751. In 1763 Apollonia's husband, Adam Deshler, became the guardian of three of the orphaned children of Andrew and Mary Meyer of Heidelberg Twp., Pennsylvania.

Notes

The following information, with sources, comes from Franklin Stahl's website:

In 1731, "Apollonia Meyer, single and Jacob Sauter, also single, were sponsors for child (Johan Jacob) of Balthasar & Elisabeth Bortner that was born Aug 10, 1731, Oberhochstadt Reformed KB in Europe. Balthasar & Elisabeth Bortner were later members of the Christ "Little Tulpehocken" Church of Heidelberg Tp., Berks Co., PA."

Northampton Co., PA Orphans Court Records, vol. A-E 1752-1795 page 30 24 March 1763--Adam Dishler was guardian for 3 of 8 minor children of Andrew (deceased) & Mary (widow) Meyer of Heidelberg Twp: Jacob (age 8 1/2), Andrew (age 4), and Paul (age 2 1/2). Other children included: Christina (married), Peter (age 16), Mary (age 14), Catherine (age 13), Elizabeth (age 12). Guardians for Peter and Mary were not named. Guardians for Catharine and Elizabeth was Frederich Snyder. page 43 18 Sept. 1765--Request made for a new guardian of minor children of Andrew Myers, Heidelberg Tp. Former--Adam Deshler, Whitehall Tp. "...none of the children's money has been delivered to the Petitioner and that he lives a good ways off and cannot well look after it..." The new guardian named is Michael Ohl. (Their residences in Whitehall Tp. and Heidelberg Tp. are about 8 miles apart). page 112 178?--Estate of Nicholas Meyer

Info presumed to relate to a different Mary Apollonia Meyer (c.1710 - aft.1752), sister of Daniel Meyer (1707-1761) :

It seems that Apollonia was a common name in the Meyer family of Oberhochstadt: On 2 Feb. 1734 Maria Apollonia Meyer, single woman, was a sponsor at the baptism of infant Maria Apollonia Meyer, daughter of Daniel and Anna Catharina Meyer. [Earlier version of profile included : "Daniel Meyer born abt. 12 May 1717--died 9 Dec 1750 age 43y 6m 3d". These dates are presumably for a different Daniel since they do not correspond to the dates on the profile for Mary Apollonia's brother.].
In 1750 Maria Apollonia (Meyer) and her husband Johann Georg Wolff were sponsors for the youngest child of Daniel and Anna Catharina Meyer. (Citing Annette Kunselman Burget "Palatine Origins of Some Pennsylvania Pioneers".)
In 1751 Georg Wolff emigrated to Pennsylvania on the ship Queen of Denmark. "Georg Wolf moved to the Drylands area of Nazereth, PA where he apparently remarried His first wife's name was Maria Appolonia (Meyer); second wife's name was Catherine. There were children from both marriages; most of my data is on the children of the second marriage and the eldest child of the first marriage, a Georg Wolf (Jr.?) from whom I am descended. Most of this information comes from a 2 volume geneology of the Wolf Families of Pennsylvania, which dates from the 1960's and includes only those Wolfs descended from Georg Wolf, Sr. of the Queen of Denmark, although there were apparently many Wolfs who were siblings of George on the Queen of Denmark (Jacob and Maria Elisabetha) and intermarried families such as the Meyers, the Ulrichs, and the Beckers, all from Oberhochstadt or Neiderhochstadt, Pfalz.Submitted by: Reid Morgan"
The younger Maria Apollonia Meyer (bapt. 2 Feb. 1734 at Oberhochstadt) also came to Pennsylvania: "Tombstone Inscriptions ar Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, Berks Co., PA shows a Maria Apollonia Rhein, nee Meyer(in), b. 2 Feb 1734, d. Nov 1809, age 75y 9m and David Rheih, b. 7 Jan 1733 (he married Maria Apollonia Meyer on 19 June 1759), d. 7 Aug. 1801." (Citing Annette Kunselman Burget "Palatine Origins of Some Pennsylvania Pioneers")

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Apollonia by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Apollonia:

Mullholland-23 and Meyer-3298 appear to represent the same person because: Adam Deshler only had one wife named Appolonia, and the evidence strongly points to Meyer as her correct surname. As far as I am aware, there is no evidence pointing toward Mulholland as her surname.
