Johann Kaspar Michel, later known as Michel Gaspard, was the son of Johann Heinrich Michel and Elisabeth Spieß or Spiess, and was reportedly born in 1702 in the Bishopric of Bamberg. His mother's maiden name is sometimes seen as Zee, as in his marriage record cited later.[1]
His marriage record with Anne-Marie Struempfl indicates that he was previously married to an Anne Terr[*] before he wed Anne-Marie on 5 November 1743 at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Côte des Allemands, Louisiane, New France-- now St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, United States.[2]
He and Anne-Marie appear to have had only one child, Simon Gaspard, before Johann was buried on 23 September 1747 at St. Charles of Borromeo Church in the Côte des Allemands, Louisiana.[3]
