Biography

Truman was born in 1879. He was the son of Albert Michelson and Margaret Hemingway.

He married Catharine (Katherine) Trowbridge Harrison in about 1903.

Truman was an anthropologist and ethnologist specializing in linguistics. He did a tremendous amount of work in the field studying Native American languages, and published many papers on this subject.

He passed away in 1938 at the age of 58. His headstone is engraved:

TRUMAN MICHELSON, B.A., M.A., Ph.D. HARVARD
Born August 11, 1879 -- Died July 26, 1938.
Sanscrit Scholar and Ethnologist, Smithsonian Institution 1910-1938.
