Turfit Middlebrook was born in Lincolnshire, England.

Turfit Middlebrook was an Assisted Immigrant to New South Wales.

Turfit was born sometime before he was baptised on the 26 Jan 1838, at St Mary and the Holy Rood in Donington in Holland, Lincolnshire, England. [1]

In 1841 Turfit was recorded as a 3 year old in the household of his father James at Browntoft Lane, Donington, Lincolnshire, England with his mother Mary and his younger sister Harriet.[2]

Turfit was 15 when he migrated with his parents and three (3) younger siblings to the Colony of New South Wales on the Fortune, arriving 2 May 1853.[3]

Turfit married Mary Ann Morris on 27 September 1858 at East Maitland, New South Wales. [4]

In 1858 Turfit was recorded as a carrier at Dungog.[5]

He passed away on 11 January 1888 at his residence at Bendolba, Williams River. [6] He was buried in the Dungog General Cemetery.[7] He was held in high esteem by his local congregation, the board of which voted to send a letter of condolences to his widow.[8]
