Biography

Thomas Theodore was born in 1882 Wise Tx. He was part Cherokee through Francis Eddings Full blood. He had about 9 siblings. One sister was blind. After his mother [Mary Jane Breeze] died, his father remarried to Nancy J McLain Daniels who had about 11 children by her marriage to Jesse Evert Daniel. Tom left home early and led an adventurous life. He worked for a while at Will Rogers fathers Ranch and had a little cowboy boot with his name on it that Will had carved for him. Some times in the early days he and Minnie and the kids as they came along, lived in tents and traveled a lot, often by horse and wagon. He registered for the draft in 1918 at which time he was married and living in Atlee, Ok. He was described as average height, stout, with blue eyes and dark hair. In 1920, he was living with his wife Minnie and his three children in Ranger Eastland Texas and working as a teamster on the oilfields. He was at times a Professional Gambler, he owned a poolhall and one or two cafes, one of which called "Uncle Toms' Cabin" was in Ridgecrest Calif. Did a little bootlegging during prohibition for which he served some jail time. He was always well liked and the family was allowed to take him out for pic nics that is where he learned to make "jail house" chili. He was a good story teller, loved to play cards, cribbage and dominos. He was a salesman for Raleigh tobacco and drove a modil T. Finally they settled down in Bakersfield,Ca 1307 Chamberlain Ave where he kept a large garden with fruit and nut trees. His brother George H, his wife Bessie L (who was a widow by 1963) and son George H Jr.(wife Hazel) lived next to him and I believe the Coffee's on the other side were some relation as well but not certain on that. Failing health caused them to move to Garden Grove Calif nearer to Daughters Myrtle and Opal. He passed away in 1967 having lived from the time of horse back travel to rocketships.

We visited Daddy Tom and Mamma Minnie for a week every summer . They were living at the time in Bakersfield next door to Toms' brother George. They had fruit and nut trees and a garden where they grew beans, black eyed peas, green peas, corn, potatoes and sweet potatoes. It was a small homey house and Minnie was an excellent cook. Still remember her Peach cobbler, she did not use a receipe or cook book but just knew what to put in. Daddy Tom loved to play cards and dominos and was a good story teller.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Tom by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Tom:

Sherry, I e-mailed you instructions today about the DNA confirmation statement you need to add to this profile. Let me know if you have questions, or didn't understand. Because there's no confirmation statement on the profile, I'm changing the relationship to 'confident'. When you've added a proper DNA confirmation statement, you can change it back to 'confirmed with DNA'.

Hi Kay,

Thank you for your help! Think I did that correctly. Does this not make Cephus and Mary Jane confirmed too or do you only put it on the child? To confirm the other syblings (about9 for this wife) I would have to find a cousin descended from those syblings?

Best Regards,

Sherry

Hi Sherry, To answer your questions, you should only put the DNA confirmation statement on the child's profile. (On WikiTree we confirm a child's relationship to his/her parent(s). And yes, to confirm the relationship of other siblings to the parents you would need to find another match with your 3C or closer, descended from each sibling. I moved a couple of the statements you added--they should go just above the Sources section. There were a couple more buttons to check for 'confirmed with DNA' (on this profile and others), and one that you marked 'confirmed' that hadn't been confirmed. I fixed all but one for you, and left you a message for the one you should add. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks for your work on these!

of the two middletons listed I only matched 10.5 cm to cash 19 as 4th cousin 2x removed but that was at John Eddings, not Middleton. Am sorting out some more middletons to test with in family finder. Since the Eddings matches are to Tom's parents, doesn't that include Tom?

Please add a statement(s) to this profile explaining how DNA was used to confirm the parental relationships. Here are the instructions: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/DNA_Confirmation
