Biography

John Mildenhall was born on 29 June 1857 in Bulla, Victoria, Australia, son of Sarah Amelia (Faithful) Mildenhall and Henry Palmer Mildenhall.[1]

He was baptised in 1857 in Bulla according to personal family records.

He was a blacksmith. He was mentioned by trade in a newspaper article in The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848 - 1957), Thursday 23 February 1905, Page 6, BLACKSMITH'S MISFORTUNE. STRATFORD,Tuesday.—An old resident, Mr. John Mildenhall, blacksmith, has met with a serious accident. Whilst at his work a splinter of steel entred his eyeball. He is now under treatment in Melbourne. Some time ago a precisely similar accident injured the other eye, the use of which has never been fully recovered.[2]

John died in December 1926 in Glen Huntly, Victoria.[3] His remains were buried privately in 1926. A newspaper notice was published in the The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848 - 1957) Tuesday 21 December 1926, Page 1, Family Notices as follows MILDENHALL.—On the 18th December, at 26 Moslie street, Caulfield, John, the beloved husband of Mary, loving father of Minnie, Alice (Mrs W. Slade, E. Malvern), Sara Grace (Balranald), William (Canberra), late of Stratford (Privately Interred 20th December).[4]
