Greetings!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi Heidi! I'm Mary Richardson, a Mentor. Some helps for you.

Our goal is to build one tree with one profile per person. Please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile.

Having DOD, DOB, and locations attached to every person assists in all as well!

Check out How To Use WikiTree. - a great step-by-step guide to get you started. Helpful guide here: Bartlett[http://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Florence-Family-Tree-208

We also have our Help Index with links to topics you may have questions on.

Check G2G Forum where many members help each other out.

Questions? Drop me a note.~Mary

Welcome Heidi,

Thank you for volunteering to help grow our World Wide Family Tree.

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.

Everything on WikiTree is a collaborative work in progress so don’t forget to read and sign our Honor Code. This is what keeps WikiTree a friendly and helpful community. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Happy Hunting,

Jess

My family and I have spent the last seven years building our family tree online at another website, but we have been searching for genealogy website that is free and accessible to everyone as membership fees often prohibit some people from being more involved. We are also looking for more sources of information and other families to collaborate with and we feel that WikiTree is what we envision in making more family connections as well as preserving and sharing our own family info for future generations. Although we are not "pros" and we do our genealogy work in spurts, we are very serious about what we are doing and even make trips to cemeteries, libraries and other places that keep records as we find more "clues". We look forward to supporting WikiTree's Free Family Tree.
Hello Heidi,

Welcome to WikiTree!

We're growing a FREE worldwide family tree, striving for ONE collaborative profile for every person.

A couple suggestions to get you started:

Our Honor Code is a very important part of why our community is such a friendly place to grow your family tree so please take some time to read it.

Feel free to ask a question at our G2G forum, found in the upper right of the screen, under the My WikiTree tab.

Our help pages, also top right, have all sorts of useful information.

If you would like to contribute by adding information, click the volunteer button and leave a comment here on your profile to let our greeters know.

You should include a little bit about how you plan to contribute to the tree.

Happy Hunting,

Jess
