Baptized at St. Martin's Church in Kulsheim , his god parents were Joseph Arnold, Michael Reinhardt of Kulsheim. Immigrated as a 14 years old boy with his father , Johann Muller . His mother died en route to Buffalo. He apprenticed as a tinsmith , eventually owning his own tinsmith & hardware business on Main Street in Buffalo. He married Marie Ursula Fougeron , daughter of Joseph Simon Fougeron , at the church of St. Louis in Buffalo, NY . They adopted her nephew, Augustus Michael Doll, when her sister , Marie Francisca Fougeron Doll, died at childbirth . Plus, they had many children of their own . In later life, John Miller retired from the hardware business and helped managed the Fougeron family farm after the death of his father -in-law.
