Peter S. Miller was born on the Miller homestead just south of Weitzeltown, Spring Township, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Peter Miller and Sarah Stieley. Mr. Miller was educated at Miller's schoolhouse, which was situated on his father's premises, and worked for his father until he was 24. He then moved to Weitzletown and worked as a laborer until 1882 when he returned to farm his father's land. Upon his father's death in 1896, he purchased the 102-acre homestead. He also owned another 58-acre tract which he purchased in 1907, and which was tenanted by his son, Peter H. Miller. Apparently some of his wealth was accumulated through operation of stand No. 28 at the Bingman Street Market in Reading. Here he sold much of the produce from his farm, a business which he started in 1882. His farms were well managed, equipped with the latest improved machinery, with a fine barn and livestock. In politics he was a Democrat, and served as a delegate to several county conventions. He served as Spring Township Supervisor in 1881. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias in Sinking Spring, the I.O.O.F. in Wernersville, the K.G.E. in Sinking Spring, and the Sinking Spring Reformed Church
