The fact that the John Miller of this WikiTree profile is not mentioned in the 1779 court suit for James Miller (son of John Miller whose wife Mary had remarried John Hodges after John Miller's death) to obtain property from the estate of his father (John Miller; who had died without a will) would indicate that the John Miller who died in May, 1799 was not the son of the John Miller whose wife Mary had later married John Hodges.

I am ASSUMING this is the John Miller that married Arvilla Saunders per the Christ Church Parish records on 10/22/1792. I have not identified a John Miller from my father's family that lived in Middlesex Co., VA that could have been this John Miller. So I am assuming a cousin Miller (descendant of Edward Miller-I) from Isle of Wight County, Virginia is this John Miller. I found no records noting this John Miller being married in Isle of Wight County (of course many records are missing).

I did not find a record of this John Miller's will; only his Isle of Wight Co., VA estate appraisal in 1799 (so if he was the John Miller that married Arvilla Saunders in Middlesex Co., VA in 1792; I am not sure if Arvilla was still living at the time of John Miller's death).

Sources

1782: This John Miller likely was the John Miller noted on the 1782 Isle of Wight County, Virginia Census along with a James Miller; William Miller; and Robert Miller (based on my research of about 150 Isle of Wight Co. documents all these Miller's listed together in 1782 were likely related and members of my Miller family).

1785 Isle of Wight Co., VA: John Miller "BY ETC" sues Frances Whitfield (see 4/24/21 EM)

1798 Isle of Wight Co., VA: John Miller sues the administrator of Robert Miller "ETC"

  • Isle of Wight Co., VA: May, 1799: Dies estate appraised by William Casey; Joseph Wodsten/Woodson; James Barlow

NOTE (link above): A Henry Applewhaite (likely son of Sara Miller & Henry Applewhaite, Sr.) appears on the 1782 Isle of Wight County, Virginia Census in William Hodsden, Gent's list of "White males" (with White and Black columns blank; so assume young single men). This is the same list where James Miller; John Miller; William Miller; and Robert Miller appear (so all are in same generation). It appears all the young Miller men noted above fathers had died prior to 1782.
