Notes

Note N148[Engelman.FTW]

Son of Pierre and Catherine Muller of Clebourg, Canton of Wissembourg, department of Bas-Rhin, was born June 15, 1808, at Clebourg. He stood 1 meter 675 millimeters (a little over 5 feet 5 inches tall), had auburn hair and eyebrows, and grayish eyes. Michael served as a rifleman in the 5th Regiment of Light Infantry, 5th Division, of the French Army and served in the campaigns of 1831 and 1832 in Belgium. While in military service he was married to Miss Adalyne Nagelberger in Clebourg. After about seven years of military service he was discharged December 31, 1837, and worked as a laborer. In the early 1840's Michael and Adalyne came to the United States and settled in Upper New York state in the farming community of West Leyden, Lewis County. Michael and Adalyne were the parents of six children, three of whom survived. They were Adeline, the wife of Frederic Ruebel, a farmer of Calhoun County, Iowa; Henry of New York state and George of Calhoun County, Iowa. Michael Muller passed away in 1879 in New York State and his wife Adalyne passed away in 1897 also in New York State.
