MARGARET YOUNG (MILLER) c.1812-1867
Margaret was born on 27 October 1812 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland to James Miller, a “couper”, and Jean Anderson.
She was married on 28 December 1835 to David Young in Calton, Glasgow where they both resided.
The 1841 Scotland Census has Margaret and David living in Camlachie, Barony District, Glasgow with daughter Jane (c.1839) and son David born in 1840. In 1851 the family is at 101 Great Eastern Road, Camlachie, Glasgow with the addition of sons William (c.1843) and Thomas (c.1845). Margaret’s occupation is shown as a clipper of cotton fabrics. By 1861 the family was in Vinegarhill Street, Camlachie, Glasgow with further addition of son John (c.1852). Margaret was widowed in 1867. At that time and at the 1881 census she was at 805 Gallowgate, Camlachie, Glasgow. In 1891 she was at 10 Porter Street, Camlachie.
She died, aged 82, on 13 May 1892, following a cerebral haemorrhage, at 153 Avenue Street, Camlachie, Glasgow. Her death was informed by her son, David.
