Biography

Reuben was born in 1871 in Owen Sound, Ontario the son of Robert Miller and Victoria Rousom. Reuben left Canada at an early age to study medicine at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. He obtained his Illinois License in 1894. Reuben became a military physician and rose to the rank of Colonel. He married Lois A. Bullard in 1897 and the couple moved often as military families often do. He was stationed (*) at Ft. Screven, GA (1894), Hot Springs, AR (1911), Washington, D.C. (1913, 1915, 1928), Ft. Leavenworth (1924), El Paso, Texas (1927). He died in November 1928 in Washington and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

COL. REUBEN MILLER DIES AT WALTER REED, ARMY MEDICAL OFFICER SURVIVED BY WIDOW AND ONE DAUGHTER

Col. R. B. Miller, 57 years old, Medical Corps U.S.A. Chief of the personal division of the surgeon general's office, War Department, died of pneumonia in Walter Reed Hospital today. Col. Miller had been stationed here as chief of the personnel division since last May. He also held a similar position here during the World War. Following the War he was in command of the American Hospital with Army of Occupation at Coblenz, Germany, for about two years.

Col. Miller resided at 3313 Rowland Place and was a member of the Chevy Chase Club. Born in Ontario, Canada, August 19, 1871, Col. Miller was graduated from the Detroit College of Medical Corps, first as a contract surgeon, in 1900. In 1901 he was appointed acting assistant surgeon and in 1906 was made a captain in the Medical Corps. Subsequently, he was promoted to the grade of major in 1911, to lieutenant colonel in 1917 and to Colonel October 30, 1927. He was stationed at El Paso, Tex., prior to coming here last May.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lois A. Miller, a daughter Mrs. Hugh J. Casey, and a son, Robert Miller. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
