Rudolph was granted a patent on 28 April 1893 for "Miller's Eureka Chair-seat". [5][4] The invention was described as "consisting of a seat hinged to the front of the chair, and supported on springs below the seat. The springs being carried on fixed bottoms. "
Rudolph filed a patent on 06 September 1899 for a "Gold-Prospecting Implement" alongside a partner Herman August.
[6][7][8] The invention was described as a contrivance to bring to the surface portions of sand gravel from river beds for the purposes of prospecting for gold by means of the frame, with its covering attached to the rod.
He was involved in a boating accident on 2 April 1920 at Pahia, New Zealand, where he drowned along with another man. [23]
