Rhoda Miller was born July 27, 1772. [1] [2]
She married Moses Olmsted about 1785. They had two sons John T. and Moses, both born in New York State. They also may have had two daughters, Polly and Margaret.
In the early 1820’s, her sons arrived in Edgar County, Illinois, and later settled in Coles County, Illinois. It’s believed Rhoda and her husband were the elderly couple in the household of their son John on both the census of 1830 and 1840. It is known that Rhoda was with them because she died in Coles County.
Rhoda Olmsted died January 11, 1844 in Ashmore Township, Coles County, Illinois. She is buried in the Olmstead Cemetery in Ashmore. [3]
