Biography

My grandfather John Miller was born April 1875 at 1 Burnbank Row off Rutherglen Road, Hutchesontown in the parish of Govan. Burnbank Row was at that time primarily occupied by coal miners which was my Great Grandfathers occupation. John lived most of his life in Rutherglen or close by in the South side of Glasgow. He worked as a yarn warper in the weaving trade came from a large family and raised a large family. He maintained a large garden to the rear of his home at Reid Street Rutherglen growing all manner of soft fruits and vegetables to a high standard.
